| Dimensions | Box says Designed in Dallas TX, Made in China and the instructions were in German! First impression was it looks great. Everything after that was pure disappointment. Trying to sight in my already proven rifle to shoot amazing groups at less than moa but this scope would not sight in. Started off after laser boresighting I took it to the range and at 100 yds shot a 3/4″ group 6 inches high and 4 inches left. Adjusted. Next group 4 inches high and 4 inches left….didn’t make any sense…should have been pretty close to center. Went to adjust but both windage and elevation turrets were stuck hard wouldn’t budge! Took another shot and elevation turret loosened and windage still stuck. 2 shots later both are loose and I was 6 inches right and 2 inches high. I knew the scope was no good so I went home and removed and repackaged the scope to return it. No unicorn here, just have to keep spending money on quality scopes. Worth a try, and maybe some people do get lucky and get a good one. |
| Model Number | Bought this because of decent reviews, the low price was also a motivator. First thing, the clarity is amazing for a “budget” scope, up to about 20× after that the clarity suffers. It still functions but its a lil fuzzy… So what ,$80. Second, it tracks very well. I can afford more but why, It’s mounted on a .223 bolt, I shoot out to 650m, it is doing what I need for the caliber I’m shooting. It is a bit long but I’m not entering it in a beauty pageant, I’m target shooting. I will not compare it to any scope out there, why_? This is not a “who makes a better scope contest”, this scope is a budget scope and a functional one at that. Turrets are crisp and 1/4 moa movement, moves you 1/4 as it should. So I give this Firefield a 5, because it does what they say it would. Will it last? Who knows its a mechanical item and no one can guarantee it. But with that said, if your in the market for an “inexpensive” scope, well, this is a great choice. |
| Color | It seems their are lemons in all of the cheap and sometimes higher end scopes when reading reviews so I spun the wheel and bought this one too.This will be a 2 part review as it will take me a week to finish my field tests with this scope on my 30-06. My first concern especially from reading some of the negative reviews was in the optics department. The scope I received provided for a CLEAR image throughout the focal range and thatfor me is one of the primary concerns. The quality of the build seems like a 8 out of 10. The focal adjustments require quite a bit of pressure to turn (some complained otherwise) and that can be a good thing in preventing adjustment drift. The end caps (flip open) are of good fit and quality.As with many lighted reticle scopes their is a lot of inside tube reflection when turned up to brightest setting which I can tolerate. As some have noted this reflection aluminates the inside of the tube in a way that shows a lot of tube material/construction which seems to be the case on many low priced scopes that I have used. Their is enough brightness adjustment without being over bearing. Comes with alum scope ring set and I will buy a steel set just to be sure. Once I test how well it holds up under firing pressures I will post my experience with this scope.UPDATE FEB 28Finally had a chance to mount the scope on my 30-06 and take the rifle out to the country for some shooting time.I am pleasantly pleased with the scopes ( the one I bought) ability to hold zero after firing over 100 rounds. Having mounted this scope very securely to my rifle it has held up well to being laid on it’s side and bumped/bounced around during the long day traveling around on my ATV. I was shooting at targets over 1200 yards and I must say that the higher magnification over my 3-9 x52 scope makes hitting the long distance targets much much easier. The scope (the one I bought) gave me a clear view throughout the magnification range and I could not expect more from a $70.00 scope at this time.If it holds up for the 2 days of shooting I will do next week I will buy several more for my other rifles. Might even put one on my slug gun. WOW!… will update next week..UPDATE !!!!!!!PUT THIS SCOPE ON MY M4 22LR AND IT DID NOT HOLD UP!!! ONE OF THE SMALL focal LENSES IN THE SCOPE CAME LOOSE AND IS RATTLING AROUND>>>LOOSES FOCUS BECAUSE OF THIS>>> OH WELL>> WHAT CAN I SAY?It was heaven while it lasted however, had some good times before this scope became faulty. I hope those who might have bought this scope based on my initial feedback forgive me. |

| Power Source | Alrighty then. The old saying is true, you do get what you pay for. The good: The optics are clear for the most part, I was able to see 12″ x 12″ steel at 400 yards and hit it several times. The fit and finish is nice and it looks good……but…….The bad: the flip covers are cheap junk, the rings are junk – if you buy this make sure you toss them out right away. The windage and elevation turrets seem like they are about to break every time they are turned. I don’t expect this scope to last long under weekly use. The worst part really is the scopes inability to hold zero. I’m shooting a breaked AR10 308, every shot moved the reticle to the right 2 or 3 moa. I thought maybe it was operator error. I shot 20 rounds off a lead sled to make sure it was the scope and not me. Yep, It’s not me. Perhaps this would be a good 22LR scope. Not holding zero was the deal breaker for me. I would return this but honestly I’m just too lazy. I’ll mount it on my 1022 next weekend and see how that works out. Don’t make my mistake: spend the cash if you want a decent long range optic…..I wanted to like this scope, I really did. Oh well…….lesson learned. Again! |
