| Dimensions | A little about my background for perspective and context: I have 20 years of tactile operations experience between USMC Recon and then later a career as a Federal Agent. I have used every imaginable sight for the M4/M16/AR15 platform from irons to ACOG, Aimpoint to Eotech, NightForce to Leupold.I got a tip to try this new S2Delta from a mutual contact of mine and the company’s owners. I was initially skeptical given the price point, but I love S2delta’s 2-point sling so decided to give this scope a try. All skepticism was quickly gone, once I had the scope in-hand and mounted to my weapon. The construction is solid; it feels high quality in the hand. It held its zero flawlessly over hundreds to rounds and much “running and gunning.” The turrets are crisp enough, but really not touched after the zeroing process as the caps going back on. Really a “set it and forget” process as the reticle does all ballistic adjustment work with holdovers.The glass is sharp, bright, and perfectly adequate for the magnification and distances it is designed for. The illumination wasn’t daylight bright, but not needed in the day, however it was nice to have as dusk approached; in low light the reticle was nice and bright red providing good contrast over the dark colored steel targets. Eye relief is generous, and 1X magnification is excellent for close range. The cat-tail zoom lever makes switching to 4x a breeze, and I can hit targets from 300-500 yards on demand with the BDC reticle.If I were to try compare this to another product it would be the Steiner P4Xi 1-4×24 or maybe the even the Leupold Mk6 1-6×20 (I own the latter) but both those scopes sell close to of over a grand, while this scope is under $200.If you are skeptical because of the relatively unknown brand, don’t be. This is a well designed, high quality optic and its only competition is going to be priced 2 or 3 times higher. S2Delta has been making high quality slings for a few years (i have them on all my weapons), and are backing this optic with a lifetime warranty. Im keeping this on my duty and everyday rifle. This is a no-brainer. |
| Model Number | My love affair with S2D started when I couldn’t find a sling that wore comfortably all day under a pack in the hot dry desert of the American southwest. A buddy suggested this Marine-vet owned brand, S2D, a couple of dudes that seemed to know what they were doing. The S2D tactical 2-pt sling quickly became the gold standard of slings. So good, I gave away my Magpul MS4.Next, S2D came out with a hunting rifle sling. Most of my rifles now wear an S2D sling. It is reliable, durable, easily adjustable, and comfortable.Last weekend, I took a PRS course and the instructors recommended an S2D scope for some of the carbine classes they were pitching. “S2D is in the optics market???” They told me they had recently tested the scope at a match and it performed as well as their premium optics but at a fraction the price.I admit, I was skeptical. The market is saturated with low end “budget” optics. How could this be any different? Well, I figured could always return it if I didn’t like it…so I bought it. Let’s just say I’m not returning this one.First, this scope is packed with features. The glass is just plain excellent. Clear to the edges. The eye relief is ample and forgiving at all settings. The reticle is absolutely amazing…I’ve never seen anything like it. There are thin crosshairs across the entire FOV…very retro but extremely useful for quick engagement. The center has an ACOG-like circle dot with BDC drops and x-mas tree windage. The reticle has a quick target ranging feature on the left hand side…simply line up a ~12″ target in the drop bars, hold for wind, and squeeze. It works remarkably well with 556. This reticle has been designed, prototyped and tested by some of the most experienced PRS and CQB shooters in the industry. It’s my favorite feature of the scope and really sets it apart from the competition. Best of all, it’s illuminated…and yes it goes up to eleven.If the 1x isn’t true, it’s darn close…it’s as true to 1x as my Vortex Strike Eagle. I can definitely use both eyes and engage quickly for CQB. With the reticle turned on, it’s as fast as a red dot.The turrets are capped, which I like. The elevation and windage are in 1/2 MOA per click and the turrets have ~5 full revolutions…at 30 MOA each. That’s 150 MOA folks. There are also rotation indication markings on the elevation knob so you always know where you’re at. The clicks are super audible, crisp, and tactile. Very clean. Definitely not like budget brands. I have a Vortex Strike Eagle that costs 3-4x this much and has moosh for turret clicks. I’m not sure there’s anything else with this many features in this class, folks.The scope even includes a throw lever, scope caps, an S2D lens cloth, allen key, and a name brand Li battery. For the price, it simply cannot be beat.Beyond good value, I think this scope is a real game changer.Keep up the strong work S2Delta! |
| Color | This scope is legit war-fighter gear. Excellent high quality craftsmanship. Came with everything ready to install, brand new battery and tools for installation. You do need to purchase a 30mm scope mount separate, but that is no big deal.I particularly like the many levels of illumination on the reticle 1-11 brightness.Can’t wait to get out to the range and sling some lead!! Will add to this review as soon as I have a chance to test durability. From initial thoughts this scope looks and feels very durable.As a Marine Corps Vet, I appreciate that this company is veteran owned and operated. I always try to support fellow vets. I have bought several different S2Delta stuff and all of their stuff is always high quality!! |
| Material | To tell the truth, I was a little skeptical about a 1-4 optic for $149 delivered. I had been looking for a good low power optic to replace my Comp M3, and had been looking at Vortex, Primary Arms, Burris, Bushnell and Nikon. Then my search brought this gem into my sights. I found only a handful of amazon reviews of it, and a couple of websites that had given the scope high praise. This is a VERY solid scope. The covered turrets are very positive feeling, and the clicks are audible and tactile. The quality of the glass is very clear and has a very easy to use reticle that isn’t “busy”, but has everything needed to make consistent shots at distance. Even the flip up covers are of decent quality. So I also bought a Monstrum cantilever mount, as I have one mated on a 300BO, and has worked flawlessly, and was able to keep my budget under $200 for both. Once mounted, the eye relief was forgiving and easy to make the correct cheek weld every time.Sighting this scope was easy. So far, I am extremely pleased with this purchase and can’t wait to see how it performs in a 3 Gun tournament. |
