| Dimensions | honestly, with this feature set and robust built quality you’re not going to do better for a sub $100 scope, you’re just not, the glass is clear and fairly bright, eye relief is optimal, and the thing just has a great build quality, it’s a bit on the heavy side due to this, but what do you expect? it’s can;t be well built, lightweight and affordable, such a beast does not and simply cannot exist, quality lightweight materials cost money, sure you can buy a cheap light weight scope but one slip or fall and that piece of garbage is likely toast….seeing as how you couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn even with this scope, you could club a man to death over the head with it and it’d still likely be functional and holding zero. i’m a big fan of PA and vortex, a vast majority of my rifles have stuff from those guys on them, i bought this one because it was one of the few scopes that came in FDE and needed something cheap to go on a range toy AR-47 that i put together, turns out this thing is pretty darn nice and is sitting on my scar17 for the moment until i can get the money together for a razor HD or Acog, but in the meantime this seems to have held up to the recoil well and looks at home there, just to be clear, this is not a $1,000 scope, don’t expect it to perform as such, in the price range that this scope competes with though is is top notch, you’re only chance to do better would be a going with a non-illuminated, BDC reticled, fixed power scope of sorts…and that doesn’t sound like much fun!as i’ve said, this thing has a great feature set and is well built, i expect it to out last any of the other, now flimsy feeling, weaver type scopes i’m currently using and will probably come back and buy another couple of these for rifles where it makes sense for a 1-4 scope. i should also say that dials and adjustment all fell super solid as well, everything on this scope is just solid. the integrated throw lever is a nice touch as well.nobody has given me anything of any sorts to say any of this,….bummer, lol, i still wonder how all of these people get free stuff all of the time, ….probably because my reviews suck. lol |
| Model Number | My expectations werent very high for this optic, however i am mildly impressed with what i recieved. I recieved this on saturday and sighted in on sunday. So let me start with the prosPros1) very well made housing. Made from aircraft grade aluminum.2)glass is much clearer than expected from such a low budget scope. Comparable to primary arms and vortex.3) reticles are thin enough to take distance shots up to 500 yards without blocking the veiw of target center. Yet not so thin they disappear when looking through the eyepeice for extended periods of time.4) is definitely water resistant to heavy downpour. Was sighting in in a heavy rain and used the red illumination during it.5) most important pro- so far after zeroing, holds zero after an additional 200 rounds. Center mass(or windage) has not changed as well as elevation. With ammo that is way to light for my ar15, i was getting 1 1/2 groups at 100yrds. That was with 64 grain fmj. With 68 grain handloads i know it will tighten up to less than 1/2 inch at 100And no. That is not a typo.6) eye relief is spot on. Easy target aquisition.7)last but not least. The windage and elevation turrets are top notch. Are resetable after zeroing and are crisp and audible when adjusting. No spongy feeling between clicks.Ok so cons. Not a long list surprisingly.1) illumination is non existant during the day even at the highest setting but overpowering in low lightconditions. In low light i found level 2 the only acceptable level as anything higher creates glare inside the optic right at the eyepeice. That being said, 2 is a good setting wether its green or red.2) make sure your turret caps are on after adjustments are done. The caps are the only thing to ensure the scope maintains being fully waterproofed.3)paralax is very noticeable on lower power.Final thoughtsOverall i am impressed at the clarity and accuracy of this LPVO. It definitely helped my rifle go on a diet and lose over a pound over my old scope. While paralax effect is there it hasnt hindered my ability to use this scope with great accuracy. Alows for quick recovery and great eye relief. I also bought medium rise rings after reading some of the reviews regarding use on the AR platform. They were right. Invest in some medium or tall risers for this optic and you wont feel you wasted your money. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and even at a budget price it delivers amazing performance. |
| Color | Great scope for my 10/22. Giving it 4 star because my first scope order was bad, but monstrum replaced for free and told me to keep the first scope for spare parts. Great customer service with monstrum, bought a few scopes from them and they honor their warranty. Problem was when adjusted from 1 to 4 power, the reticle would move slightly down then back up when adjusting to 4 power. The second scope did not have that problem. What happened on both was the dial (looks like washers) in the windage and elevation knobs would come loose, there held on with a little glue. After zeroing, I just super glued them back and had the zero marks line up with marks at the 6 o’clock position. My 10/22 shoots best with 40 grain CCI Copper plated round nose and figured out the bullet drop at 4 power. Dot=85, hashmark=130, hashmark=185, dot=220, hashmark=250, dot=285, bottom reticle=315. All is yards, zero at 50 point aim, point of impact. I would recommend for any 22 owner, not so much for AR, don’t think it would last.
