| Dimensions | Like everyone else on the planet I’m always looking for a good deal. What matters is whether your purchase equals or exceeds expectations of what you paid for the product. I purchase this scope based on reviews and the need for an inexpensive knock around optic for my AR piggy gun. I couldn’t justify expensive glass for a rifle that gets abused in the field. To put this review into perspective, I own a few good scopes: NightForce, Zeiss and Steiner to name a few. I have a pretty good idea of what to expect at a given price range. So, when you purchase a $70 scope you shouldn’t expect Schmidt and Bender performance. I base all my scope purchase on five points; glass clarity, focal adjustment (if variable magnification), ability to hold zero, repeatability and durability. This scope seems to be well constructed and durable in appearance and was packaged very nicely. The glass clarity, for a 32mm objective, is excellent to around 200 yards. If you are shooting further, you should buy a scope with higher magnification and a larger objective lens. The focal adjustment is on par with much more expensive scopes. I particularly like the lever handle for adjusting the magnification. It took me a grand total of 4 rounds to zero after it was laser bore sighted. In my book, that’s darn good. The scope held a consistent zero through a wide range of ammo. Even some of the more punishing rounds didn’t faze it one bit. After three range sessions and over 500 rounds the repeatability held constant. All in all, one would be hard pressed to find a scope at this price that does what it does. I’d buy another one if I had something to put it on. |

| Color | Sure there are better scopes out there if you want to pay big dollars for them. But I’m not sure they are better by enough of a margin to justify the price difference. I am impressed with this scope, especially for this price. Variable power operates smoothly. And the image is very clear. The only blurriness occurs is at high magnification on something closer than about 20 yards. But at that distance, there is no need for maximum magnification, right? Just back down to 5x or less at close range and it is crystal clear. The focus ring accomplishes more than on several other scopes I have. The illuminated reticle works well, too. Plus it just looks like it “belongs” on my AR. Very pleased. Have only shot about 60 rounds since installing it and I still need to sight it in at longer range when the weather is warmer. But so far it’s doing just what I want it to do. |

The mounts seem solid but I changed them out for ones a little lower. It is a good scope for an AR. The tube is short so it will not mount on many bolt action rifle, be sure to check the length before you order. I have not used it at longer ranges yet so I don’t know if the Rangefinder Reticle is calibrated. I mounted it on an AR for close to mid range fun, it I perfect for that. My old eyes could not get used to a red dot. I do wish the scope makers would stop putting the illuminated Reticles in every scope they make, the black daylight cross hairs are fine for 99.99% of the shooters. |
| Power Source | I bought this scope because I had never heard of Monstrum Tactical, and I figured I would give it a try. I figured if the product was awful I would throw it out, and it wouldn’t hurt to bad. I wanted this particular scope for dear hunting because I felt a 2×7 would work better in and out of a woods than a 3×9 scope. I was wrong!I gave this thing 2 out of 5 stars because not all of the features are awful. The throw lever works well, the zoom is okay, it holds 0 okay with a 450 bushmaster, and there inst much fish eye. Other than that this thing is trash.The “gas filled tube” sucks. It doesn’t fog up as long as its over 50 degrees outside anything under that the scope completely fogs up and becomes unusable. The illumination is worthless unless it’s on the highest setting, and even then it is barley noticeable. The BDC is a joke, and the scope as a whole is heavy, and feels like junk.Save yourself some time and just buy a Nikon Pro staff if you are looking for a great budget scope. |
