| Dimensions | I’d been using a red dot, Vortex Strikefire II to be specific. I like it but there were times where it’d have been handy to have a little magnification. I’ve tried the screw-in magnifier for that sight and the picture became dim and very small, providing no real advantage.So I figured I’d shoot for a 1x something sight instead. After looking at two other inexpensive second focal plane scopes here on Amazon, each about $100 less than this one, and with many more reviews, I figured I’d chance it and get this somewhat shady-feeling FIRST FOCAL PLANE sight since that is an appealing feature.Initial impressions:* Nice box! TWO batteries! Wow!* There’s not much in this box* This thing is kindof a chonkThe sight came pre-mounted on its monolithic mounting ring and looks to be straight, however all the screws were lose and at least two were barely threaded in at all. I don’t mean I cranked the heckoutofem, I mean they were loose.I glanced through the manual, then through the sight itself and I’m not sure which was more disappointing. The sight, at 1x, has VERY evident distortion when viewing horizontal/vertical/otherwise straight lines that are anywhere within view. It’s not as bad but still present at all magnification levels. It’s like a completely non-corrected camera lens from decades ago that was really cheap. The colors and contrast and brightness are alright, but the distortion is absolutely wild. Pop in the battery and flick on the reticle, and it’s absolutely like looking through drunk-goggles. GREAT care must be taken to be in the extremely small sweet spot where most of the etchings are actually in focus and you’re not seeing horrible glare of the light behind the markings in the viewfinder. I don’t think it will be usable with the reticle lit at the zoomed-in side of things. Fiddling with the focus knob in the back did not correct this issue as it’s not the issue.The box did not include flip-up sight covers, instead screw in covers were included, which are very inconvenient to use and will likely not be used. They do include a removable lever for the zoom, which is actually pretty useful and part of the reason I like this sight based on the listing.Looking through the manual, it outlines features and a diagram that appear to be generic. This model and it’s specs are not even listed on the back page Table of the manual, and it mentions many features which are not available on this model, including zero-resetable turrets; loosening or removing the hex screws on the turrets does NOT allow you to reset zero. The turrets do lock when pushed in and are adjustable when pulled out about 1/10 of an inch. The listing also outlines this as a feature. Maybe I’m just not doing it right but I’ve tried a couple of times.Sniper. C’mon. I don’t mean the company, I mean all the wacky, tacky printing all over the sight. I’m kindof embarrassed to take this thing out to use because people might think I THINK I’m some kind of “sniper” because I bought this chinese optic off the internet. The big giant S on the battery cap looks like a dollar sign and is the worst offender of them all. The pic rails on top of the included monolithic ring.. how much crap do you think I want to put on top of my rifle!?I’m not sure what I expected, for the money. I know as well as you that a decent first focal plane 1-6x or 1-8x sight costs BIG money. You get what you pay for.Will it work? We’ll find out. Yeah I’ve got that much to say after just mounting it and looking at it without having yet shot with it. It’s a real conversation piece! If it’s anything other than a mountain goat in terms of holding zero, it’s going right back. For all its shortcomings, the internals better be good.Pretty sure nobody who’s shelled out nearly Three Hundred of their own Big Ones on this Bad Boy wouldn’t have a very great taste in their mouth afterward. I’m suspicious that the positive, terse reviews are bought and paid for, and this is indeed nothing other than dumpster food. Again, we’ll see how it actually works when I go to use it.Could not recommend. I’ve got a $60 2-7x for my 10/22 and it’s leaps and bounds better, so I know there ARE indeed some quality inexpensive optics out there. |

Gone by the time you go to 2x and up????Also the ring that fits around the magnification adjust ring they supply is too big, there is a knurled rod that threads into the side of the adjuster ring included that does work tho.Just so you know that to adjust windage and elevation you have to pull up the knobs to unlock them before they turn. No mention of any of that in the directions as they are for different model scopes……… |

With this scope, it seems that the magnifier inside is on rails in the scope barrel and will move in closer to zoom and will move towards your eye to zoom out. How do I know this? At 1X, I can see the inside of the barrel and the rail. The picture is super tiny. I can’t use this at anything than 6X. Which makes this a glorified ACOG. And at $300? I’ll just buy an actual ACOG, as it doesn’t add an extra 2 IBs. 1/5. |
| Material | Hello, the optic I received has maintained zero after 800 rounds. Great all the way out to 300 yards on target. I don’t like that they labeled the grids on the scope letters a, b, c etc… Also when you turn the illumination up too high you can see the imperfections next to the etchings. However, everything functions great I can seriously say when I take it out the bag at the range there is no adjustment needed from 50 to 100 to 200 once you zero at 50 it is spot on with the drops you have. Ok after shooting about this for about 8 months the scope begin to get spotty inside a lot of dirt and lint fog etc… I wouldn’t recommend this scope as eventually it appears to leak. |
